New analytics reveal that the Communication Hub of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (https://hub.uoa.gr) is reaching an increasingly broad international audience, further strengthening its role as the University’s central digital platform for sharing news, research, and institutional developments.
Strong growth in users
Between 1 September 2024 and 17 February 2026, the platform recorded:
- 1,082,225 active users, an increase of 83.77% compared with the previous reporting period (16 March 2023 – 31 August 2024).
- 1,051,559 new users, up 81.45%, reflecting the steady expansion of the Hub’s readership.
These figures underscore the growing importance of the Hub as a primary source for news and updates from the University of Athens.
Rising engagement with content
Audience engagement has also increased markedly during the same period.
- 2,216,060 page views were recorded, representing an 84.99% increase.
In addition, the platform logged 7.25 million interaction events, a rise of 64.56%, indicating sustained and meaningful engagement with the Hub’s content.
Mobile access dominates
Most readers now access the Hub through mobile devices:
- Web / Mobile: 813,603 users (+86.05%)
- Web / Desktop: 231,690 users (+61.40%)
- Web / Tablet: 31,005 users (+132.81%)
The data confirm the continued shift towards mobile-first access, with smartphones now accounting for the majority of visits.
How readers discover the Hub
New users most frequently reach the platform through:
- Direct visits
- Organic search
- Organic social media traffic
The Hub’s strong performance in search results highlights its high visibility across search engines, while the large number of direct visits suggests that it has established itself as a trusted and widely recognised source of information.
A growing international readership
Analytics data also point to a steadily expanding global audience.
The countries generating the largest number of users include:
- Greece: 903,877 users (+73%)
- China: 44,734 users (+8,740%)
- United States: 23,490 users (+110%)
- Cyprus: 19,952 users (+108%)
Substantial growth has also been recorded in Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
Traffic from Asia has increased particularly sharply, while readership in the United States and across Europe continues to rise—an indicator of the expanding international visibility of the University of Athens.
A platform with growing international impact
Overall, the data confirm that the University of Athens Communication Hub is evolving into an increasingly influential platform for communicating the University’s work to audiences in Greece and around the world.
The steady rise in users, page views, and international readership reflects the success of the University’s digital outreach strategy and its efforts to enhance the global visibility of its research, partnerships, and academic initiatives.
To date, more than 10,000 stories have been published on the platform.
