Ακολουθεί ο διαδικτυακός σύνδεσμος του τελευταίου τεύχους του Journal of Ottoman and Turkish Studies Association, όπου περιλαμβάνει άρθρο της Αναπληρώτριας Καθηγήτριας του Τμήματος Τουρκικών και Σύγχρονων Ασιατικών Σπουδών του ΕΚΠΑ, Έφης Κάννερ, με τίτλο «Gender-Based Violence, Activist Practices and Politics: The Movement against Gender-Based Violence and “Politics from Below” in Contemporary Turkey».

Abstract άρθρου (στην αγγλική γλώσσα):

Resistance against gender-based violence in contemporary Turkey is the topic of this article which covers the years from the late-2000s to the present day. These years are marked by the turn of the ruling party towards authoritarianism and interventions against women’s rights, as well as an unprecedented rise in gender-based violence and particularly women’s murders. A new movement against gender-based violence appeared in that same period. I examine what is novel about the social and political profile of the participants in this movement, in comparison with the profile of the Turkish feminists of the 1980s and 1990s. I subsequently investigate to what extent these new characteristics account for the political dimensions of the movement. I explore the way activism produces new political subjectivities and the interaction of the movement with the political parties; the way the movement affects gender discourses and initiatives that the political parties adopt.
