Από τις 2 έως 6 Οκτωβρίου του 2023 διεξήχθη με επιτυχία στο Τμήμα Φαρμακευτικής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (ΕΚΠΑ) με δια ζώσης παρουσία το δεύτερο μέρος του CIVIS Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “From Medicinal Plants to Drug Products: Research Lab, Formulations, Applications” το οποίο είχε ως απώτερο στόχο να προάγει την τρέχουσα γνώση και έρευνα σχετικά με τα φυσικά προϊόντα, εστιάζοντας σε έξι βασικούς τομείς: Χημεία Φυσικών Προϊόντων, Φαρμακολογία/Φαρμακοκινητική και Φαρμακευτική Τεχνολογία. Το συγκεκριμένο διεπιστημονικό πρόγραμμα πραγματοποιήθηκε υπό το συντονισμό του ΕΚΠΑ σε συνεργασία με τρία Πανεπιστήμια – μέλη του CIVIS (University of Bucharest, Sapienza Università di Roma, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). Στη δράση αυτή συμμετείχαν με φυσική παρουσία 35 φοιτητές και 2 Καθηγητές από Πανεπιστήμια του CIVIS (University of Bucharest, Sapienza Università di Roma, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Aix-Marseille Université, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen & National and Kapodistrian University of Athens).
Το εν λόγω πρόγραμμα αποτελείτο από ένα διαδικτυακό μέρος (18-29 Σεπτεμβρίου 2023) και ένα δεύτερο μέρος με φυσική παρουσία (2-6 Οκτωβρίου 2023). Πιο συγκεκριμένα, πραγματοποιήθηκαν διάφορες διαλέξεις από Καθηγητές, Ερευνητές και Φοιτητές από τα Πανεπιστήμια CIVIS, καθώς επίσης και από άλλα Πανεπιστήμια (ΑΠΘ, University of Thessaloniki, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Florence, University of Pretoria-South Africa, University of Belgrade, University of Cagliari, Yeditepe University, Biruni University, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences). Οι φοιτητές παρακολούθησαν τρείς εργαστηριακές ασκήσεις. Επιπροσθέτως, επισκέφτηκαν την φαρμακευτική βιομηχανία ELPEN, όπου πραγματοποιήθηκε αναλυτική ξενάγηση στα εργαστήριά και τους χώρους παραγωγής της, ενώ στη συνέχεια ακολούθησε ελαφρύ γεύμα. Την τελευταία ημέρα, οι φοιτητές παρουσίασαν εργασίες που τους είχαν ανατεθεί σε ομάδες στο πλαίσιο ολοκλήρωσης του προγράμματος.
Οι συμμετέχοντες του μαθήματος έμειναν άκρως ευχαριστημένοι από την όλη διοργάνωση και μας μίλησαν για αυτή την ξεχωριστή εμπειρία συμμετοχής τους στο CIVIS! Μεταξύ άλλων, οι φοιτητές αναφέρθηκαν στις υψηλού επιπέδου γνώσεις και τις νέες ευκαιρίες που αποκόμισαν από το εν λόγω πρόγραμμα, τη συνύπαρξή τους με άλλους φοιτητές απ’ όλη την Ευρώπη, την εξαίρετη φιλοξενία από το ΕΚΠΑ αλλά και τις αναμνήσεις τους από την «μοναδική» πόλη της Αθήνας!

“As a student of pharmaceutical chemistry who is working on medicinal plants for her graduation project, I have found extremely interesting all the lectures presented during the three weeks, especially those focusing on the application of new technologies in the medicinal plant world. The fact that people from all over Europe and from different kind of studies were there sharing their experiences was stimulating and made the whole course more engaging. I really appreciated the opportunity to present my research project for the first time in public and to figure out a proper way to expose it in front of students with a completely different university background. “I’m Sorin, a Bioinformatics Master’s student from the University of Bucharest with a limited background in biology and chemistry. When I first saw the course I said “Wow, lucky me” as I’m passionate about plants and my final thesis revolves around them. The online part had some great presentations that helped me understand a lot of concepts. What I liked most is that the presenters had intro parts accessible to people who came from other backgrounds too and were quite happy to answer our questions. The physical part was better as it was a mix of presentations, networking and exploring Athens (which is a beautiful city 😄) so a nice mix. The whole CIVIS course was like a glove for me that gave me a lot of ideas and feedback for my final thesis and for this beautiful domain of activity 🙂

“I’ve had a wonderful experience during this CIVIS BIP “From Medicinal Plants to Drug Products”. From the online part, where we got the opportunity to attend lectures of professors and researchers renowned in this field, to the physical week of the program where we got to deepen into the importance of medicinal plants for therapeutic purposes and drug implementation, it’s overall been an enriching academic involvement. But not only that! We also got to enjoy the beautiful, historic and unique city of Athens and discover its most hidden gems. Last and not the least, the organizing team involved in this BIP program (with a special remark to Katerina Tomou) has been amazing! From the very beginning they have warmly welcomed us all and actively looked out and solved anything that arose so that we could enjoy our physical stay there to the fullest. It’s been an unforgettable week and cannot stress enough how much I recommend it”!!
