During the period April-May 2021, the short-term virtual mobility course “CIVIS Virtual field trips on Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology” was successfully accomplished. The course consisted of four virtual field trips with four partners from the CIVIS alliance, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aix Marseille University, Stockholm University – Navarino Environmental Observatory and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Four virtual field trips were accomplished on the following topics:
- Coastal geomorphology and relative sea-level changes – National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with tutor Prof. Niki Evelpidou
- Virtual field trip about coastal adaptation in the context of sea-level rise along the urbanized shoreline of Hyères (Var, France) – Aix Marseille University, with tutor Prof. Francois Sabatier
- Virtual fieldwork of Navarino Bay: water management, ecosystem restoration, and socio-economic developments in lights of the ongoing and projected hydro-climate and societal changes – Stockholm University – Navarino Environmental Observatory, with tutors Prof. Zahra Kalantari, Dr. Carla Ferreira and Giorgos Maneas
- Fluvial geomorphology, weathering processes and morphostructure in central Spain – Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, with tutors Prof. Jeronimo Lopez-Martinez, Dr. Belen Oliva-Urcia, Dr. Jose A. Ortega, and Dr. Miguel Gomez-Heras Participation records reached in total approximately eighty-five, internationally, including participants from Europe, Egypt, North America and South America.
