12th Hellenic – Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Meeting

12th Hellenic – Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Meeting
The 12th Hellenic – Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Meeting next year is scheduled for April 10th to 12th, 2025, in Athens with the participation of national and international attendees.
This marks the 12th meeting in a series that began in Izmir in 1995, thanks to the vision of Professor Panayotis Soucacos and Professor Hakkı Oncag. Over the years, these biennial meetings, hosted alternately by the Turkish Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology and the Hellenic Association of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, have grown in attendance, camaraderie, and scientific importance.
Greek and Turkish Orthopaedic Surgeons share much in common, not only medically but also through similar lifestyles. Our shared regional ties and professional experiences with our Turkish colleagues create a unique platform for scientific exchange and mutual learning. The previous meetings have significantly contributed to fostering respect and understanding between us, and we anticipate that the upcoming meeting will strengthen our bonds further. The scientific program will highlight the exceptional standards of Orthopaedic Surgery in both countries.
Υou will have the opportunity to experience the elegance of the Propylaia, the historic central building of the University of Athens on Panepistimiou Street. Established in the 19th century and designed by renowned architect Theophil Hansen, this neoclassical masterpiece symbolizes the spirit of Greek education and intellectual pursuit. Visit to admire its stunning columns, intricate detailing, and the role it plays as an emblem of academic excellence in Greece.

The final scientific program and more information can be accessed at: www.hellenic-turkish-orthopaedic.gr.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
