The 18th International Conference on Metadata, Ontologies and Semantics Research (MTSR 2024, http://www.mtsr-conf.org/) was held on 20-22 November 2024 at the “Ioannis Drakopoulos” Amphitheatre of the Central Building of the University of Athens (UNA), Panepistimiou 30, Athens.
The conference was organized by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Laboratory of Electronic Management of Historical Archives, Department of History and Philosophy of Science) and the Ionian University (Laboratory of Digital Libraries and Electronic Publishing, Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology).
MTSR is an annual international inter-disciplinary conference, which brings together academics, researchers and practitioners in the specialized fields of metadata, ontologies and semantics research. The conference provides an opportunity for participants to share knowledge and novel approaches in the implementation of semantic technologies across diverse types of information environments and applications. These include Open Access Repositories and Digital Libraries, Cultural Informatics, Digital Humanities, E-learning applications, Search Engine Optimization and Information Retrieval, Research Information Systems and Infrastructures, e-Science and e-Social Science applications, Agriculture, Food and Environment, Bio-Health & Medical Information Systems.
The conference program includes, in addition to the main track that extends throughout its duration, day-long special tracks that focus on domains that require special methods for metadata management. This year, the following special tracks were hosted:
