The NKUA’s International Electronic Journal ‘Theophany’ released its 5th issue

Theophany, an International (published in English) Electronic Journal of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, has just released its new (5^th) issue. This 2023 issue is available at http://epub.lib.uoa.gr/index.php/theophany/issue/view/200.

Published annually since 2019, Theophany features original scholarly articles and interventions across various disciplines (Theology, Religious Studies, Psychology of Religion, Sociology, Philosophy, and so on). Its editor-in-chief is Dr Spyridon Tsitsigkos, Professor of Psychology of Religion at the NKUA’s Department of Social Theology and the Study of Religion and Director of the Department’s Laboratory for the Study of Religion.

In the current issue, Dr Spyridon Tsitsigkos explores the historical and symbolic-archetypal semiotics of a well-known high technology company’s logo in his article ‘The Bitten Apple, Religious-Psychological Viewpoint’. Dr Nikolaos Denaxas, Assistant Professor of Sociology of Religion at the NKUA’s School of Theology, draws on empirical data to investigate the impact of rap culture on young people in his article ‘Religion and Contemporary Music Culture. The Effect of Rap Music on Youth. Brief Sociological Reflections’. Dr George Fountoulakis (PhD in Philosophy), a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the NKUA’s Department of Social Theology and the Study of Religion, seeks an introductory-methodological approach to the Theology of the Environment, as well as a consolidation of the above field’s dynamic perspective and development in research, with his intervention entitled ‘A Brief Introduction to the Theology of the Environment’. Also contributing with interesting interventions are Dr John Akriotis (PhD in Philosophy), ‘The Transition of Ancient Greek Spirit From Mythos to Logos’; PhD candidate (Psychology of Religion) Mr Khader I. Alkhouri, ‘The Numinous Experience in the Light of Psychology of Religion’; Mr Alexandros Batalias, ‘Emergentist Panentheism and Orthodox Theology: A Preliminary Encounter’; Ms Helen Papamanos, ‘The Space-Time Journey of Science and Orthodox Christian Theology’; and Mr Stephanos Peppas, ‘Interculturalism, Ecumenicality, and Human Dignity. The Orthodox Perspective’.
