The Archimedes Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of NKUA hosted the 9th Fintech Talks, a part of the Greek Fintech Hub initiative, where Amazon presented its concept store ‘Amazon Go.’ Amazon Go is a chain of physical stores that use Just Walk Out technology to eliminate queuing at the checkout. This is made possible through the application of computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning technologies.
Mr Lefteris Chaniotakis, Snr Enterprise Account Manager of Amazon Web Services in Greece and Cyprus, gave a brief overview of the changes and trends in payments that are driving the innovation of the ecosystem, especially cloud computing.
Greek Fintech Hub is an initiative launched by the National Bank of Greece in collaboration with Endeavor Greece, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Onassis Foundation, and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels; it is also supported by Crowd Dialog Europe.
