7th Panhellenic Conference on Philosophy of Science [December 1-3, 2022]

The Department of History and Philosophy of Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens announces the 7th Panhellenic Conference on Philosophy of Science to be held in Athens on December 1-3, 2022.

The thematic sections of the Conference include all areas of philosophy of science (general philosophy of science, philosophy of special sciences), as well as areas of philosophy (metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, history of philosophy, political philosophy) to the extent that they are related to issues concerning science.

The Conference includes Contributed Papers and Symposia and is open to all members of the academic community, as well as to everyone interested in philosophy of science. Presentations of Contributed Papers will be in Greek, and in English for non-Greek speakers. Symposia will be held in Greek or English. There is no registration fee.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
