Opening ceremony of the International Conference entitled: “Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computation with Applications – NASCA 23”

The opening ceremony of the International Conference entitled: “Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computation with Applications – NASCA 23” organized by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the “Université du Littoral Côte d’ Opaleˮ took place on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 at the Great Hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (main Building, 30 Panepistimiou St.).

The welcome address was delivered by the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Meletios-Athanasios C. Dimopoulos.



Addresses were also delivered by:
The Rector of the National Technical University of Athens, Professor Andreas Boudouvis.
The President of the “Université du Littoral Côte d’ Opaleˮ (ULCO), Professor Hassane Sadok.
The Dean of the School of Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Professor Ioannis Emmanouil.
The Chair of the Department of Mathematics of NKUA, Professor Sotirios Notaris.
Professor Marilena Mitrouli (on behalf of the Conference Organizers), NKUA, & Professor Khalide Jbilou, ULCO.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
