On 16 November 2023, Assistant Professor at the NKUA’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Jenny Lialiouti, participated in a panel discussion entitled ‘Looking Back 50 Years to the Athens Polytechneio Uprising: Students Confront the Junta’. The panel took place at the Hellenic Observatory of LSE to mark the 50th anniversary of the Athens Polytechnic Uprising.
Also on the panel were Professor Emeritus at Athens University of Economics and Business, Nicos Christodoulakis, Professor Emeritus at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Calliope Rigopoulou, and George Pavlakis, a researcher at the National Cancer Institute of the United States of America.
The panel focused on the accounts of those present at the Athens Polytechnic Uprising, the historical background of the events, and their place in collective memory and Public History. Coordinating the discussion was the Director of the Hellenic Observatory of LSE, Professor Kevin Featherstone.
