The event was held on Friday, 27 February 2026, in the Great Hall of the University’s Main Building (Propylaea), under the title ‘Gender Roles and Parental Time Allocation’.
Keynote speaker Almudena Sevilla CBE, Professor of Economic and Social Policy at LSE, presented research on gender roles and parental time allocation, highlighting persistent inequalities in household and childcare responsibilities and their impact on labour markets and public policy.

Eirini Kamberidou, Professor at the Department of Sociology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, served as discussant, offering sociological insights into gender equality and evolving family patterns.

The session was moderated by Vassilis Monastiriotis, Professor of Political Economy and holder of the Eleftherios Venizelos Chair of Contemporary Greek Studies at LSE, and Aristeidis Samitas, Professor of Finance and Vice-Rector for Finance and Development at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Among the attendees was Yannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece. The lecture brought together students, researchers, LSE graduates, and members of the academic community, underscoring the importance of evidence-based research in public debates on gender equality, family policy, and sustainable social development.

The event also reaffirmed the strong partnership between LSE and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, highlighting their shared commitment to connecting research with pressing social challenges and fostering an outward-looking academic approach.
