New technology from the NKUA’s School of Dentistry for the prevention of infections from aerosols

In continuation of its efforts to protect the intellectual property of researchers at NKUA, the Archimedes Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship announces the invention of Professor Emeritus, Evangelos Kontakiotis, and Assistant Professor, Anastasia Agrafioti, from the NKUA’s School of Dentistry.

The invention relates to a novel protective device featuring a round protective shield against infections caused by aerosols produced during dental procedures, which can be adapted to any high- or low-speed or ultrasonic handpiece.The inventors/members of the NKUA’s academic community, with the assistance of the Archimedes Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, have filed a European patent application at the European Patent Office (EPO).

The researchers from NKUA will present their innovative technology at an open event during the 15thAthens Dental Students’ Conference, which will take place from 17 to 18 May 2024 at the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
