The research and innovation framework of the new HORIZON-JU-SNS project TERRAMETA was presented by its technical manager, and at the same time scientist responsible for NKUA, Assistant Professor of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, Mr George Alexandropoulos, at the research conference of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), at its headquarters in Sophia Antipolis in Southern France from 6 to 8 February 2023.
The TERRAMETA project will study innovative technologies for 6G networks and design dynamically reconfigurable metasurfaces and new generation large arrays of antennas for green wireless communication networks with ultra-high data transmission rates at THz frequencies. The project will receive a total of €6 million in EU funding. It will focus on the changing needs of several 6G usage scenarios (indoor, outdoor, and indoor-to-outdoor) and demonstrate suggested solutions in a factory setting—with numerous robots—and a telecom testing field.
