It is with great joy and pride that the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens co-organized the 6th Panhellenic Economics Competition for High School Students 2025—an important initiative aiming to promote economic education and cultivate high school students’ knowledge of economic science.
This competition, held under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Education, was the product of an excellent collaboration between the Department of Economics of the University of Athens and the Department of Economics of the University of Thessaly.
The 6th Panhellenic Economics Competition for High School Students included three rounds, all of which went smoothly. The third and final round named ‘Aristotelis’ [Aristotle] took place in person on Sunday 9 March 2025 at two different locations: in Athens at the Department of Economics of the University of Athens and in Volos at the Department of Economics of the University of Thessaly. The goal was to facilitate the participation of high school students from all over the country.
Faculty members from both Universities were actively involved in the Competition’s Steering Committee, Problem Committee and Jury. From the NKUA’s Department of Economics, the above Committees included Professor Stelios Kotsios, Chair of the Department, Assistant Professor Frago Kourandi, and Assistant Professor Pantelis Kostis. All three academics will now work with the winning team and prepare them to represent Greece, their country, in the 8th International Economics Olympiad 2025, which will take place this year in Baku, Azerbaijan.
