The NKUA’s School of Law in top positions globally at international moot court competitions

The NKUA’s School of Law in top positions globally at international moot court competitions

A series of outstanding performances by the School of Law at international moot court competitions brought the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens to the top positions globally.

We are happy to announce that, thanks to the consistently high performances over time of teams from the School of Law in international moot court competitions, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is now among the top Universities participating in similar procedures globally.

More specifically, NICA LS RANKING 2022 placed NKUA 15th in Europe and 36th overall for 2013-2023. In addition, our University ranked 3rd in the world for International Air Law and 8th for World Trade Organization Law moot court competitions!

The above distinctions demonstrate the—comparatively and over time—high calibre of our Law School’s students and the diligent research and instruction by faculty members on moot court competitions, a process internationally considered challenging and demanding. Given that, in most cases, these distinctions concern undergraduates, it is easy to see why the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens can rightfully boast about the quality, potential, and abilities of its faculty and students.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
