This scientific event is one of the most important worldwide in the area of Biomedical Engineering and Science, with an emphasis on Medical Imaging, and is organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest technical professional organisation.

The topics covered in the Symposium span the entire range of Biomedical Imaging, from advanced computational methods for image acquisition to innovative clinical applications. In this year’s edition, in particular, the crucial role of artificial intelligence was highlighted in all aspects of Biomedical Imaging.

From the Medical School of NKUA, Associate Professor Spyretta Golemati, in her role as Technical Program chair, coordinated the presentation of more than 1000 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts, while Associate Professor Kalliopi (Pola) Platoni was a member of the organising committee. Professor Vassilis Gorgoulis was keynote speaker in a clinical focus session on imaging and artificial intelligence in Oncology, while Professor Alexis Kelekis participated in a panel on translating artificial intelligence research in clinical practice.
