Ms Maria Papadima, Professor of Translation Theory and Practice at the NKUA’s Department of French Language and Literature, participates on behalf of Greece in the five-year Horizon Europe research and innovation project ‘TranslAtWar ERC’ (1/1/2023-31/12/2027).
Coordinated by Professor Christine Lombez and Nantes University, this project involves international experts from Austria, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, and Romania. The project’s objective is to investigate how literary translation, this par excellence medium of circulation of ideas, currents, and ideologies, aids in our understanding of European history—particularly the critical years of World War II—and, conversely, how the historical setting, in these exceptional historical circumstances, impacted the history and practice of translation and influenced the intellectual and cultural development of the countries participating in the project.
