Organization of a Transnational Project Meeting at the Department of Nursing of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens within the framework of the Erasmus + chAnGE project

On the 13th, 14th and 15th May 2025, a scientific meeting was successfully held at the Department of Nursing of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens within the framework of the European project chAnGE (Climate change and healthy AgeinG: co-creating E-learning for resilience and adaptation).

The chAnGE project is an Erasmus+ co-funded initiative that started on the 1st of October 2023 and will be completed on the 30th of September 2026. It enables health and social care workers (HSC) to integrate climate change adaptation and resilience into their daily practice. chAnGE develops interactive, accessible, short-term e-learning, which is co-created with health and social care workers and older people. These stackable microcredentials (MCs) allow learners to gain knowledge over time.

Climate change is increasing the health risks of Europe’s growing elderly population. However, climate change adaptation often overlooks HSC workers, who need specialized training to support climate-vulnerable older people during extreme weather events.

chAnGE brings together universities, vocational training providers and HSC organisations from Austria, Finland, Greece, Ireland and Portugal, while six associate partners contribute to the initiative. The scientific lead for NKUA is Professor Panagiota Sourtzi.

The meeting was attended by 26 people in person and 10 online from the 5 participating countries.
