The Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, cordially invites you to attend the awarding ceremony conferring the title of doctor honoris causa upon the President of Yale University Professor Peter Salovey by the School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, at 19:00, at the Great Hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (main building, 30 Panepistimiou St., Athens).

Program

Welcome address by the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siasos.

Screening of the greeting by the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

Address by Professor Nikolaos Thomaidis, Vice-President of the Administration Council of NKUA, scientific coordinator of the bilateral Agreement between Yale University and NKUA.

Presentation of the distinguished career and accomplishments of the honoree by the member of the Administration Council of NKUA, Professor at Yale University, Mr. Vasilis Vasiliou.

Awarding ceremony:

• Presentation-reading of the School’s citation and conferring documents and of the Diploma by the Dean of the School of Medicine, Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos.
• Investiture of the awardee with the gown of the School of Health Sciences by the Dean of the School, Professor Emmanouil Pikoulis.

Lecture of the awardee, the President of Yale University, Professor Peter Salovey, entitled: “Emotional Intelligence in the Lab, Workplace, and Classroom”
