Meeting with a Chinese Delegation at the NKUA

In the context of international relations and international cooperation between universities, as well as personal academic cooperation with Chinese Universities, today, May 21 2025, following the interest of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law through the Director of the International Programs Administration Shanghai, Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, the scheduled meeting of a Chinese delegation took place, through the Head of International Relations of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Mrs. Athina Nikolaki, in the New Senate Hall of the University of Athens, whom we thank for the warm hospitality she reserved for us. In this meeting, on behalf of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, the following participated: President Mrs. LIU Xiaohong, ZHANG Zhengyi Dean, International Education School (Vocational Education School), Mr. ZHANG Xiheng Vice Director, Department of Planning and Development, Mrs. ZHANG Wenqi, Vice Director, Department of Teaching Quality Supervision and Assessment, Mr. b Director, Journal of SHUPL and the meeting coordinator Professor Mrs. ZHANG Yvette.

On behalf of the National University of Athens, the following participated: Professor of Sports Law Dimitrios PANAGIOTOPOULOS, Vice-Rector for International Relations Professor Mrs. Sophia PAPAIOANNOU and the Member of the Board of the Foundation Professor Mrs. Athanasia SMYRNIOTI. The meeting was considered a complete success, in which issues and fields of cooperation between the two universities were discussed with the prospect of signing a relevant special Memorandum of Cooperation for the exchange of students and teachers and academic cooperation, joint study programs, joint publications in academic journals and related academic issues. In addition, issues of Sports Law were specifically discussed with Professor Panagiotopoulos, where in the context of the special cooperation, he was asked for assistance in matters of teaching, research and publications in this field and the development of Sports Law at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
