The Chair of the School of Medicine, Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos, and a team of faculty members—experts in Infectious Diseases—consisting of Professors Georgios Daikos, Nikolaos Sipsas, and Sotiris Tsiodras, met with the Head of the European Clinical Research Alliance for Infectious Diseases, Professor at Utrecht University, Μarc Βonten, on 3 July 2024, at the office of the Chair of the NKUA’s School of Medicine.
Mr Bonten had earlier met faculty members—experts in Infectious Diseases—at ‘Attikon’ General University Hospital, namely Professors Evangelos Giamarellos-Bourboulis, Ioannis Parisis, Spyridon Pournaras, Iraklis Tsagkaris, and Sotiris Tsiodras. During the meetings they discussed and approved a further cooperation on Infectious Diseases between the Clinical Departments of the NKUA’s School of Medicine and the above non-profit pan-European network, as well as the participation of Greece in significant research programmes related to pan-resistant microbes and the preparedness of the country in the face of a possible new pandemic.
