It took two years of work to complete the writing. The book has 82 chapters and a certain level of originality; the introduction to the chapters, for instance, is done through a presentation of a clinical case, ample illustrations, and algorithms. Each chapter provides a table of the tools necessary for endovascular surgery (tool kit). The authors of the chapters are distinguished and recognized professionals in their fields in Greece and across the Atlantic. The forward to the book, complete with a brief book review, was written by one of the most distinguished vascular surgeons worldwide, Mr Frank Veith from New York, in collaboration with the newly elected President of the European Society of Vascular Surgery and President of the European Boards in Vascular Surgery, Mr Armando Mansilha.

Mr Geroulakos emphasized that ‘This activity enhances the international reputation and extroversion of NKUA as a centre of excellence in postgraduate education.’

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
