It is a day of joy for many candidates who have recently sat the nationwide examinations for admission to Greece’s Higher Educational Institutions. Among this year’s top achievers—those scoring over 19,000 points—a significant number have once again set their sights on enrolling in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
One of the highest scorers this year was Nikos Paraskakis, a student at the 3rd High School of Heraklion, who amassed an impressive 19,500 points. His subject scores were: 19/20 in Modern Greek Language and Literature, 19.5/20 in Physics, 20/20 in Chemistry, and 19.5/20 in Biology. Nikos’s goal has always been to study Medicine, specifically at NKUA.
Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, Nikos reflected on the factors behind his success: ‘I believe success in the “Panhellenic Exams” depends on many factors, but in my case, the strong academic foundation I had built in previous years played a key role. Also, I found it easier to concentrate when studying with company.
Of course, proper planning and giving yourself enough time for your daily studying routine were essential’.
He added: ‘Today I feel happy—my efforts have been rewarded—and I am looking forward to enjoying my summer before starting this new chapter in my life. My goal has always been, and still is, to study Medicine, most likely at NKUA’.
Another standout performer is Giannis Vrettakis, who scored 19,150 points and is already seeing his dream of attending the NKUA’s School of Law come true. ‘I am very happy because a major goal has been achieved. I wish all candidates the best possible results and hope they experience similar successes in their lives’, said Giannis.
He concluded: ‘In any case, this marks the beginning of a new journey. The summer ahead will certainly be carefree, and, after so much effort, all candidates truly deserve it’.
