Anastasia Konstantinidou is Professor of Pathology, Head of Perinatal Pathology at the 1st Laboratory of Pathology, School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the Laboratory of Pathology, Aretaieio Hospital, and Director of the University’s Pathology Museum.
Founded in 1955, the Paediatric Pathology Society (PPS) represents paediatric and perinatal pathologists, primarily from Europe, though its membership spans all continents. Paediatric pathology—encompassing both autopsy and surgical practice—is recognized in many countries as either a distinct medical specialty or a subspecialty of pathology. It involves the study and diagnosis of a wide range of conditions, both fatal and non-fatal, affecting all organ systems from foetal life through to the end of childhood.
Professor Konstantinidou was elected President of PPS in 2024 and assumed office on 12 September 2025 in Belgrade, during the 2025 PPS Annual Meeting. This marks the first time a Greek has taken on the presidency of this historic society. In 2025, Professor Konstantinidou was also elected to the Council of the International Paediatric Pathology Association (IPPA).
