On Thursday, 12 June 2025, Professor George Sirrakos, together with a group of students from the Department of Secondary Education of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, paid a visit to the Department of Educational Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Upon arrival, they received a warm welcome from Professor Christos Parthenis, Associate Professor Alba Papakonstantinou, Dr Antonia Samara, and Dr Lydia Exarchou at the premises of the Department.
The visit included a guided tour of the Museum of Education, featuring a brief introduction to the evolution of the educational system in Greece by the Museum’s curator, Dr Lydia Exarchou.
Immediately afterwards, Professor Christos Parthenis gave a presentation entitled: ‘Intercultural Education: Theory, Greek Reality, and the Role of the NKUA Intercultural Education Lab’. Dr Alba Papakonstantinou and Dr Antonia Samara then led a discussion about secondary teacher training in the two Departments, collaboration opportunities between them, and international developments in Higher Education in both the American and European contexts.
The meeting continued with questions from the invited students and concluded with both sides reaffirming their strong interest in joint research initiatives and collaborative actions.
