The ‘Rivista di letteratura comparata italiana, bizantina e neoellenica’—directed by Professor Gerasimos Zoras—on the updated list of academic journals compiled by ERIH PLUS

The Rivista di letteratura comparata italiana, bizantina e neoellenica (Pisa-Roma: Fabrizio Serra), directed by Professor Gerasimos Zoras, has been included in ERIH PLUS’s (European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences) recently updated list of academic journals.

Rivista achieved this by meeting all of the index’s minimum requirements (i.e., peer review, an editorial board comprised of academics and researchers, a valid ISSN code, articles accompanied by abstracts in English or any other language related to the field of the journal, information on the affiliations of the authors, etc.).

The seventh issue of the journal is already available, while preparations for the next one are well underway.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
