In 2025, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens once again stood at the forefront, both nationally and internationally.
Over the course of the year, the University of Athens gained widespread international recognition as the most improved University in Europe (QS World University Rankings), climbing further in global rankings to become Greece’s top University.
Building on this momentum, the University of Athens was the first Greek higher education institution to establish and operate a branch abroad, in Cyprus, while at the same time forging new research collaborations with some of the world’s most prestigious Universities, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, the Sorbonne, and Boston, among others.
Meanwhile, it strengthened its public presence through initiatives with tangible social impact, reaffirming its enduring leadership in knowledge, scientific advancement, and public discourse as Greece’s oldest and largest University.
