On Friday, 18 November 2022, the Department of Dentistry of NKUA received a visit from Alexander Ross Kerr, Clinical Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology & Medicine, New York University College of Dentistry, Diplomate, American Board of Oral Medicine, and EAOM Region 6 Representative and Indraneel Bhattacharyya, Division and Laboratory Director and Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences, University of Florida College of Dentistry, Gainesville, Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. The Chair at the Department of Dentistry of NKUA, Professor of Oral Pathology and Head of the Department of Oral Pathology and Hospital Dentistry, Mr Nikolaos G. Nikitakis, and the Alternate Chair at the Department of Dentistry of NKUA, Associate Professor of Paediatric Dentistry and Head of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry, Ms Sotiria Gizani, welcomed the guests.
The invited professors visited the undergraduate and postgraduate Departments and Units, especially the Department of Oral Pathology and the Dental Oncology Unit, where they interacted with members of the teaching and research staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Shortly afterwards, the invited professors delivered lectures to the members of the teaching and research staff and the postgraduate students of the Department of Dentistry. Professor Kerr referred to the research activity of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology & Medicine of the New York University College of Dentistry on potentially malignant disorders, while professor Bhattacharyya analysed the clinical and histopathological features of verrucous carcinoma, a rare subtype of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity. The visit ended with the presentation of a seminar by the two professors, who discussed interesting clinical and histopathological cases with the faculty and the postgraduate students of the Department of Oral Pathology and Hospital Dentistry. There was a lot of interest in developing educational and research ties between our University and the home Institutions of the two professors.
