Welcome day for Erasmus+ and International incoming students [27/09/2024]

Welcome Day for incoming Erasmus+ students and international students (in person) for the winter semester 2024-2025 will take place on 27 September 2024 at the Main Administration Building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, at Propylaea (30 Panepistimiou Street).

The identification process: from 10:15 a.m. till 10:50 a.m. An ID/Passport is required to be presented!

The event will start at 11:00 a.m. (local time).

Welcoming and opening keynote address by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, International Relations and Extroversion, Professor Sophia Papaioannou.
• Keynote Speech by Ms. Katerina Karra, on the elective course “Contemporary Greece: History, Arts and Letters”.
• Keynote Speech by Ms. Anastasia Maggana on the Greek language Course and a short presentation of the Modern Greek Language Teaching Center.
• Keynote Speech by Ms. Katerina Levidou, on the elective course “Issues in Greek Music and Culture”.

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
