Welcome Ceremony – Class of 2025/2026 LL.M. in International and European Law, School of Law, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

On Friday, 26 September 2025, the LL.M. in International and European Law of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens warmly welcomed the new cohort of postgraduate students of the academic year 2025/2026. The ceremony took place at the historic University of Athens’ Club, in the “Kostis Palamas” building.

All members of the faculty attended the event, introducing themselves and presenting their courses to the incoming students. The participants also had the chance to briefly introduce themselves to the group, reflecting the rich diversity and truly international character of this year’s class.

In total, 55 students have enrolled in the two specializations of the LL.M. programme this year, including 24 international students from countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Uganda, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, the United States, Hungary, Romania, and Iran.

Following the presentations, all attendees enjoyed an informal discussion and a buffet reception in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to our new students for a successful, creative, and inspiring academic journey!

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
