Antonios Chatzigeorgiou, Professor of Experimental and Clinical Physiology at NKUA Medical School, has been elected a member of the Academy of the International Union of Physiological Sciences
With great pleasure, we announce that Professor Antonios Chatzigeorgiou, Professor of Experimental and Clinical Physiology at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and Visiting Professor at King’s College London, has been elected a member of the Academy of the International Union of Physiological Sciences for the Class of 2026.
The International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), founded in 1953, represents the field of physiology in international organizations by coordinating the activities of physiological societies worldwide and promoting knowledge, education, and collaboration in the field of physiology.
The Academy of the International Union of Physiological Sciences was established in 2021 with the aim of highlighting and promoting the significant contributions of physiologists to science, health, and society. Election as a Fellow of the Academy is a distinct honor awarded to scientists who have made exceptional contributions to the field of physiology through significant original discoveries, sustained academic contributions, or distinguished international service to physiology.
To date, the Academy comprises 161 members, including 7 honorary members who are Nobel Prize laureates in Physiology or Medicine.
