At the heart of the event was the White Coat Ceremony, during which the first-year students received their white coats for the first time. This symbolic moment represents an important milestone in their medical education and the beginning of a journey defined by knowledge, responsibility, professionalism and commitment to patient care.

Coming from different countries and backgrounds, the students are united by their decision to pursue their medical education at NKUA. Over the coming years, lectures, laboratory sessions, clinical training and exposure to research will form an integral part of their education and gradually prepare them for their future roles as physicians.

The ceremony was further enriched by a musical performance by the Mixed Choir of the Department of Music Studies of NKUA and concluded with a group photograph of the first-year students, followed by a reception in the University Courtyard.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
