Welcome to this special introductory session on Mayo Clinic.

This honor underscores the incredible commitment of the MAYO staff to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients each and every day, as Dr. Gianrico Farrugia Mayo Clinic’s president and CEO said.

We set up this session with the goal to share with you the story of  MAYO clinic, a place that has been called  “the place for hope when there is no hope.‘

3 senior leaders of the MAYO Clinic will share with us their insights on the past, the present and the future of the MAYO Clinic.

The first presentation will be delivered by Dr. Tanios Bekaii-Saab, who has a specific focus in gastrointestinal cancers.

He serves as the leader of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Program at the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center.  He is also the medical director of the Cancer Clinical Research Office as well as the Vice Chair and Section Chief for Medical Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Additionally, he serves as the consortium chair for the ACCRU research Network.

The next presentation will be delivered by Dr.  Stephen Ansell, who serves as the chairman of the division of Hematology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and is an international authority on B-cell malignancies,

The third and last presentation will be delivered by Dr. Rafael Fonseca, who is the director for Innovation and Transformational Relationships at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Arizona and an international authority on myeloma and related conditions.

University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which was inaugurated on May 3, 1837, was initially housed in a renovated Ottoman building on the northeastern side of the Acropolis. This building has since been restored and now functions as the University Museum. Originally named the "Othonian University," after Otto, the first king of Greece, it consisted of four academic departments and 52 students. As the first university of the newly established Greek state, as well as of the broader Balkan and Mediterranean region, it assumed an important socio-historical role, which was pivotal in the development of specific forms of knowledge and culture within the country.
